Thaughts on The Wrestler

Truely great storytelling should leave an audience shaken, in awe, of what they've just witnessed.
In the past year, only the Dark Knight has had this affect on me, and I'd had zero expectations of any film to surpass that any time soon.

I was wrong.

Not only is The Wrestler an exciting, emotional rollercoaster of a film, but it managed, somehow, to best the Dark Knight. This is the highest compliment I could give to The Wrestler, and Mickey Rourke diserves every award he gets for his jaw-dropping, tear-jerking performance.

The fact this film was so great to me is an accomplishment in and of itself -- I am a Wrestler, and couldn't help but notice a large volume of differences to how wrestling actually is (though for a movie, it's very accurate) -- so Daren Arnofski diserves huge credit for managing to accomplish everything he did.

If you haven't seen The Wrestler, see it, do anything to see it, you won't regret it.

Never thought you were the one for tears, Nor. But I'll give it a look when I get the chance.

Haha, I'm not, but I'm pretty sure other people would be crying, especially at the ending.

Definitely in my top five for the year. I absolutely loved it as well.
And though I can't recall, I probably came close to shedding a tear.

I really need to see this movie. My cousin and I really wanna see it. There's only one theater in the whole damn 100 mile radius that plays the damn movie.

Catch it when it hits DVD.
Can't be bothered, money's tight until work gets into full-swing and honestly despite reading all the positive reviews, actor articles and coverage, just not that interested.

He's an ex-mafia, martial artist fighter pilot bounty hunter. She's a hot 70 year old cryogenically unfrozen amnesiac crack-shot waif perpetually on the run from astronomical gambling debts. They fight crime. . .IN SPACE.
